Anneleen Geurts - Physical geographer

Anneleen's is raised close to the stream valleys of the Beerze and Dommel rivers in Brabant. In 2005, she chose to study Physical Geography in Utrecht, where she specialized in lowland rivers and stream systems. During her studies, she developed a fascination for flowing water and how rivers shape the surface and morphology of landscapes.

Due to her love for nature, she moved to the Norwegian fjord region in 2013, where she worked as a PhD student and postdoc at the University of Bergen. Nearly 12 years of living in the Scandinavian wilderness with her family made her aware of the value of clean streams where children can drink the same water they play in. It also fostered an appreciation for young children's connecting with nature.

As a physical geographer, Anneleen is committed to protecting and restoring nature and landscapes and making nature close and accessible to everyone. She is convinced of the benefits of people connecting with nature. It's important to use nature to address social issues within society. In this way, nature can be a solution for everyone. According to Anneleen, a "social perspective" is crucial in nature restoration projects, and she is glad to work with this perspective in mind at Bureau Stroming.
