Maarten Onneweer -

Maarten has a broad background in forestry, land and water engineering, ecological restoration, and anthropology. He has a deep-rooted interest in Dutch nature and water management. During his studies in Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology, he specialised in landscape anthropology, researching water programs and water specialists in Kenya.

Over the past twelve years, Maarten has worked in twelve different countries on the planning and implementation of integrated watershed management and water harvesting technologies. He specialised in solutions that are now referred to as ‘Nature-based Solutions’. His focus has been on project development where natural and social processes intersect.

Maarten is driven by impact and constantly seeks collaborations that lead to tangible implementation and innovation. He is fascinated by the complex interaction between water, soil, nature, and people, and explores how this system's understanding can contribute to sustainable solutions for today’s societal challenges.
